HIGHLIGHTS: THE COLUMBIA-FUDAN GLOBAL SUMMIT ON AGING & HEALTH WAS

Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and Fudan University’s School of Public Health successfully held a three-day summit with scientists, policy makers and industry experts from China and around the world on aging and health, 17-19 Oct 2016. ICAIA is pleased to be the Co-chair of organizing committee for this global summit.

 

 

The conference was joined by leaders in science, government and industry from organizations including United Nations, World Health Organization, the World Bank, Shanghai’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, Johns Hopkins University, Tokyo University, The University of Hong Kong, Munich Center for the Economics of Aging, Vcan Senior, China Primary Care, Sunny Visions Senior Care, Home Instead, Meridian Senior Living, Orpea China, Pinetree Care Group, Right at Home China, etc.

 

 

The conference aims to develop a framework that enables countries to capitalize on the social capital of older adults leading to stronger and wealthier societies. Discussions during the summit reviewed best practices in various field in elderly care, including how cross-sector dialogue on aging and health can provide valuable insights for Chinese policy makers, researchers and business leaders.

 

 

The three-day conference provided international aging experts with a common platform to exchange information on a broad range of topics from the science of health promotion to health systems to developing Age-Friendly cities to services and products promoting health to the economic opportunities of aging societies. By sharing information from across the public, private and community sectors, the conference enhances knowledge about how to improve the quality of life not just for older adults, but for all of society.
